Psychotherapy Services and Fees

I offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation, by phone or at my office, to get an overview of the issues that have brought the prospective client to therapy.

In the initial session we'll discuss what brings you to therapy and review your history. We'll also have a chance to see how we might work together. Sessions generally last 50 minutes. Arrangements can be made in advance for extended sessions, which is often recommended for couples.

Payment is due at the beginning of each session and can be made by check, cash, or credit card. Cancellations must be made by phone at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session, or clients will be billed for the cancelled session.

Insurance

At this time I am only in-network with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. For those with different insurance plans, I provide clients with statements containing the required information for applying for out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance company. Clients are responsible for submitting reimbursement requests as well as interacting with their insurance company regarding psychotherapy services.

The decision to use insurance should consider not only financial concerns, but privacy and availability of services as well. Insurance plans require personal information to be shared and limit therapy services to those that are "medically necessary." As insurance plans vary widely, clients planning to use insurance should be familiar with their plan's coverage. Questions to consider are: Does my plan have mental health benefits and if so, how many outpatient visits do I get per calendar year? Does the plan reimburse me if I see out-of-network providers, and if so, how much is reimbursed for each visit? Is there a separate mental health deductible? How much of my deductible have I met?
